We are incredibly excited to be supporting Curly’s Athletes for 2024 in North Lincolnshire.
This year we will proudly be the headline sponsor for our local Brigg Poppy 10k, alongside with supporting Curlys to continue their amazing free FUNETICS coaching programme for kids based at the fantastic Quibell Park Athletics track in Scunthorpe.
Singleton Birch are pleased to be supporting the North Lincolnshire community to get active, grow our local events, bring more visitors to the area and support great charities.
Curlys ethos and approach is a great reflection of our team's values, and we look forward to a lasting partnership supporting our community and having some fun.
Curlys are delighted to have the support of the Singleton Birch team for 2024. Their support further helps us develop our events, support our charity aims and our BIG ambition to get our communities moving.
We are really looking forward to seeing us grow the Brigg Poppy 10k experience and develop the free funetics coaching programme for our junior athletes in Scunthorpe.
It’s going to be an exciting time working in partnership with the lovely Singleton Birch team, who are just as excited as we are and we’ve had lots of very excitable chats about the future!
funetics is a fun and inclusive kids athletics programme, created by England Athletics to help 4-11 year old children across the country to learn, develop and practice running, jumping and throwing skills all year round, for a healthy confident future.
Helping children to have fun whilst getting active, funetics provides a safe, fun and nurturing environment for children to develop fundamental movement skills and confidence to help support them in different sports in the future.
Curly's Athlete coaches deliver funetics with support and guidance from England Athletics

Help keep up to date with all things Funetics, latest sessions, updates, support and advice.
Coming soon ... thanks to the generosity of our amazing running community we raised nearly £1200. This allowed us to buy all the equipment, pay for the training and hire the facility for many weeks to come.
We're now working out easy ways for you to be able to support.
We want to keep these sessions free and grow our Funetics courses, doing more leaders and helping more junior athletes get active, have fun and discover sport :)

Monday 18:30: During the summer we're based at Normanby Hall and as the nights draw in then we move to the nearby village of Burton Upon Stather.
Friday 17:00-18:00 and 18:00-19:00: Based at Quibell Park athletics track in Scunthorpe.
All ran by our volunteer coaches 'Chip and Dale' (a nick name we forced upon them!... David & Nicky!)
Normanby Hall: On a Monday we start and finish all our session with some easy stretching and sometime a spot of plyometrics (like jumping :) ) ... all good fun and all supported by our coaches (giggles and sniggers are allowed throughout!)
Then we head into interval type sessions, splitting to groups up based on current running level. This means you're with people of similar pace, but we still all train together.
Interval sessions means everyone can out the effort they want into the session and be comfortable at their own pace, but we all get to train together.
We tend to see between 40 and 80 people in attendance.
This session is designed for 18's and overs, but also suitable for children aged 11 and up if accompanied by an adult. We tend to cover around 3-4 miles in an evening, for those going a bit faster this can be 5-6 miles.
Quibell Athletics Track: On a Wednesday and Friday it's pretty simple... we pay for and hire the track and then we let you lovely lot use it for free :) So come along and walk, jog or run... you don't event need to run on the track and take a gentle stroll around the outside while enjoying the view. We have a session plan written up, but feel free to do your own thing and please don't be nervous about coming to an 'athletics track' ... it's friendly, open and inclusive. Whether you're super fast and looking to sharpen your running skills or you've never ran before... everyone is welcome and as a group we're on hand to support. It's a great safe environment, especially as we get towards darker nights (and it's flat!!)
